The Monterey Jazz Festival is the world’s longest continuously running jazz festival. The first event was held in 1958 and has continued to impress with its exceptional music. The festival expects to host over 38,000 fans while 500 artists entertain on eight stages.

The 2022 Monterey Jazz Festival will be held September 23-25, 2022, at the beautiful, 20-acre Monterey County Fairgrounds. The line-up features a mix of international stars, local composers, and new voices. Guests can enjoy headliner music and local food and grab a drink at the festival. The festival runs for three days Friday, September 23rd, Saturday, September 24th, and Sunday, September 25th.

2022 Monterey Jazz Festival Artists

The festival will feature 500 artists from around the world. Artists include Dee Dee Bridgewater, Gregory Porter, Chucho Valdes, Moodswing Reunion, Artemis, and Veronica Swift. Artists from various musical backgrounds perform jazz, folk, American, and blues music. Guests are sure to love hearing their favorite artists live and are guaranteed to enjoy discovering new artists.

Chucho Valdes has been performing Cuban jazz for over 60 years and is one of the event’s headliners. This legendary musician combines Afro-Cuban traditions with classical music, rock, and jazz. Chuco Valdes has won six Grammy Awards and four Latin Grammy Awards. In addition, he is in the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Science awarded Valdes a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Exciting band Las Cafeterias performs an infectious mix of music from several cultures. The band has an East LA sound with Afro-Mexican beats and inspiring and uplifting lyrics. The band uses traditional Son Jarocho instruments for a unique traditional sound.

The festival brings together the world’s most talented and inspiring jazz artists in one place for one fabulous weekend of music and community.

Festival Events

Guests can attend live filmings of the popular YouTube series Welcome to the Sands Box! Artist-in-Residence Christian Sands hosts the series that features conversations with jazz stars. The series focuses on musician tips, the artistic process, and music composition. The filmings allow festival attendees to watch their favorite web series come together live.

Visit the garden food court to experience exceptional food and drinks. The food court features local cafes, vegan and vegetarian options, and international cuisine.

The festival has several bars located throughout the grounds. The bars feature non-alcoholic drinks, local wine and beer, and specialty cocktails. You can download the app to find the nearest festival bar.

Monterey Jazz Festival Mission

The Monterey Jazz Festival provides year-round programs to encourage musical education. The festival supports Monterey County All-Star Bands and a Summer Jazz Camp. The festival also hosts the Next Generation Jazz Festival, bringing together student bands from across America. In addition, the festival runs the Artist-In-Residence program, which brings an established artist to work with young performers.

There are a variety of ticket options so that guests can choose the one that works best for them. Choose from a three-day arena package, three-day grounds package, and single-day tickets. In addition, guests can add tickets to visit the Premier Club in a new larger location.
