History of Jazz Bash‍

The festival started with a Dixieland Monterey mini jazz festival in 1980. The event was part of the Monterey County Fair and featured nine bands across four venues on Monterey's waterfront. The festival was so popular that volunteers repeated the event in March 1982.

As the festival's popularity grew, organizers added other jazz forms and a youth program. Today, Dixieland Monterey has been going strong for over 40 years and continues to delight the jazz community.
