If you're a car aficionado and staying in Monterey CA hotels this summer, come out and celebrate the automobile at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The outdoor event takes place at the 18th fairway of Pebble Reach Golf Links and brings together 200 of the best in automotive gems from all over the world.
Originally a small event with a race through the forests of Pebble Beach, the Concours has grown into a highly-rated collector car show. Cars of the Maharajas, or great kings, such as Rolls-Royce, Daimler, Hispano-Suiza, Maback, Bugatti, Duesenberg, Minevra will be on display at Pebble Beach. Mercer of New Jersey will also display their automobiles. The cars tour portions of the iconic 17 Mile Drive, nearby mountains, valleys and stops in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Participants can enjoy a catered gourmet lunch, champagne at the finish and gifts. Spectators are invited to view the Tour all along the route, especially Ocean Avenue in Carmel. Below is the tour schedule:
August 19
- 7 – 8 a.m. Cars line up near Collins Field in Pebble Beach
- 8:30 a.m. Tour departs, tracing portions of 17-Mile Drive and nearby scenic roads
- 11:30 – 12 noon Tour arrives in Carmel-by-the-Sea
- 12 noon – 2 p.m. Cars are displayed on Ocean Avenue
- 2 – 2:30 p.m. Tour returns to Pebble Beach
- 3:00 p.m. Concluding Champagne toast for participants
Several classes will be taught at the Concours, including Saoutchik Coachwork, AC Cobra, Fiat, Sport Customs and German Motorcycles. For more information on the Concours classes click here.
Tickets to the 2012 Concours are $200 in advance and $250 day of. Ticket admission includes parking, shuttle service and event program.
