Monterey County includes Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pacific Grove, Moss Landing, and Del Rey Oaks, among many others. This means there are a variety of places to host your Monterey destination wedding. Monterey County is home to nearly 200 vineyards, olive orchards, coastal towns, and more. There are also several historic places with chapels and buildings dating back to the 1700s, so there is a venue for every taste and style.

There are just as many wedding planners, caterers, and vendors with various places to have your destination wedding that will help you bring your perfect day to life. Plus, they are experienced working with out-of-town wedding parties.

With several attractions, downtown areas, chateaus, historic estates, and numerous parks, there are plenty of things to do with your wedding party for pre-wedding events like bachelor/bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners, and more! Imagine spending a day before your wedding ceremony getting pampered at a luxurious outdoor day spa or hot mineral spring. There’s nothing like it! Treat your wedding party to a wine tasting at one of the area’s many vineyards, or book a wine tour and visit them all. There’s plenty of places for off-roading, hiking, biking, and sporting activities for adventure seekers.

Year-round mild temperatures make any time of year great for a Monterey destination wedding. The area experiences the most activity during the summer months, so you may find extra seclusion and great deals when booking your wedding in the winter.

California marriage requirements‍

Bride signing marriage license

While it’s fun to pick out your dress, flowers, and wedding venue, it’s essential to understand California’s marriage requirements when planning a destination wedding. Marriage licenses for Monterey County are available at the County Clerk’s office in Salinas for $85. Please note, out-of-state checks and credit cards aren’t an accepted form of payment. The wedding couple must appear together to get a marriage license. The license is valid for 90 days after it’s signed. Make sure this is one of the top priorities on your to-do list!

If you live in another part of California and are traveling to Monterey for your wedding, you can get a license in your home county and bring it with you. It will be valid in Monterey County as well!
