August brings many fun outdoor events to the Monterey area that will provide you with some great entertainment when you’re looking for something to do. Check out some of the events below:
Spirit West Coast – August 4-6
The 15th annual Christian music festival returns in Monterey with a great lineup and many fun activities for attendees of all ages to enjoy. In addition to the considerable array of artists performing, there will be a wide variety of sports and recreation activities, kids’ entertainment, a skate park, a vast shopping area, sightseeing, golfing, art galleries, and more. Big headliners and speakers each night include Newsboys, Reggie Dabbs, Skillet, Chip Ingram, Tobymac, and Bob Lenz, with many smaller bands and speakers performing throughout each day. While this is a Christian music festival, it’s also simply an evangelistic crusade and an all-encompassing Christian-centered event!
Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance – August 21
It’s that time of the year again when over 200 prized collector cars come together to compete in the automotive world on the prestigious Pebble Beach Golf Course 18th fairway. The cars compete based on their excellence – judges rate the cars’ historical accuracy, technical merit, and overall style. This year, the featured marquees include Mercedes-Benz, Stutz Centennial, Ferrari, Rolls-Royce, and Italian motorcycles, among others. Thousands of car enthusiasts will be present to share their love and passion for these vehicles!
Monterey County Fair – August 31-September 5
The Monterey County Fair is a fun summer staple that should be not missed! All kinds of events will take place during the week. The biggest draw will be performances by superstars Lee Brice on Wednesday, Blue Oyster Cult on Thursday, and War on Friday. The Monterey County Fair Wine Challenge is also an exciting part of the fair, with many recognizable wineries participating. There will also be an extensive carnival, complete with rides such as a century wheel, tilt-a-whirl, haunted mansion, sizzler, tornado, and wave swinger. A more relaxed kid’s carnival will also be put up, with rides such as the superslide, speedway, dragon wagon, and more! The Monterey County Fair is known for having such an eclectic assortment of events which is great because that means there is something for the whole family!
